GetBus connects Porto Airport to Braga, Guimarães, Chaves and the Alto Minho region. Someone buying a ticket is not buying a coach ride: they are buying the certainty of reaching check-in on time. In a business like this, software is not an accessory to the operation; it is the operation. If a booking fails, a ticket does not arrive or a timetable is wrong, someone misses a flight, and no apology fixes that.
We built and maintain the complete platform: the booking website, the iOS and Android mobile app, the management backoffice and the API that serves all three. Customers search timetables, pick one-way or return, enter their passengers and pay by Multibanco, MB Way, card, Google Pay or Apple Pay. The moment payment is confirmed, the system issues the certified invoice, generates the PDF ticket with its QR code and emails it out, with no manual step anywhere in between.
In the app, the ticket lives on the phone and is validated by QR code as passengers board, with passes ready for Apple Wallet and Google Wallet for anyone who would rather not open an app at all. We also wired in a loyalty programme that returns 10% of the amount paid every ten trips, alongside promo codes and refer-a-friend: simple mechanics that turn an occasional passenger into a returning customer.
On the company side, the backoffice manages routes, timetables, trips, seats, customers, drivers and invoicing, with occupancy reports that show, line by line, where seats are going spare and where capacity needs reinforcing. This is the kind of bespoke system we build when an entire business comes to depend on its software: resilient through peak-season spikes, monitored, and running every day of the year.
